UAE says air defences intercepted Iranian missiles and drones

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems intercepted two ballistic missiles and three unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran on Friday (08).

In a statement, the ministry said the interceptions took place amid ongoing hostilities between Iran and the UAE.

Since the start of what it described as “Iranian attacks,” UAE air defences have intercepted a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and 2,263 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), it reported.

It also said that the latest attacks injured three people with moderate injuries, bringing the total number of injuries recorded since the escalation began to 230 people of various nationalities.

No fatalities were reported in the latest incident, the statement said.

The total death toll since the attacks began stands at 10 civilians of various nationalities, in addition to two military fatalities and a Moroccan civilian contracted to the armed forces.

The ministry of Defence affirmed that the UAE remains fully prepared to respond to threats targeting the country. (Newswire)
