Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has threatened to target major United States technology companies operating in the region, warning employees and residents near such facilities to evacuate.
In a statement carried by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, the IRGC said American technology, ICT and artificial intelligence companies were involved in designing and tracking what it described as “terrorist targets,” and would now be considered legitimate targets.
“Since the main element in designing and tracking terrorist targets are American ICT and AI companies… from now on, these main institutions will be our legitimate targets,” the statement said.
The IRGC warned that more than 15 companies could be targeted, reportedly naming firms including Boeing, Tesla, Meta, Google and Apple.
According to the statement, the threats could be carried out from 8 pm local time tomorrow if further Iranian leaders are killed in what Tehran described as “targeted assassinations.”
The warning comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, with ongoing attacks and counter-attacks raising concerns about potential expansion of the conflict to commercial and technology infrastructure.
There has been no immediate response from the companies named in the statement.
Security analysts say the threat marks a significant escalation, as targeting global technology companies would broaden the conflict beyond traditional military and energy infrastructure.
Further developments are expected as the situation continues to evolve. (Newswire)
