The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Training has announced that a full investigation is underway following the reported suicide of a second-year student at the Wayamba National College of Education.
A special inquiry committee has been appointed to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident, which took place within the college premises. The Ministry stated that appropriate action will be taken once the committee submits its report.
A detailed report has already been obtained from the college principal, and a Ministry official has conducted an on-site inspection. The Ministry also confirmed that it is reviewing administrative and academic procedures across the entire National College of Education system to introduce necessary reforms.
