Two farmers killed by lightning strike in Vijithapura.
Two farmers were killed after being struck by lightning in the Vijithapura area following heavy evening rain on Monday (27), police said.
Police said the two men, aged 50 and 49, were residents of the Vijithapura area.
According to ‘Lankadeepa’, the initial investigations have revealed that the victims were working in their paddy fields in Kanakkanmadugama and Puliyankulama, when the lightning strike occurred.
The body of one victim has been placed at his residence, while the other has been kept at the Kalawawa Hospital, police said.
