A total of 12 dengue-related deaths, including two children under the age of 12, have been reported so far this year, the National Dengue Control Unit said.
Speaking at a media briefing on Monday (04), Community Physician Dr Prashila Samaraweera said the two child fatalities were reported from Colombo and Ratnapura districts.
She said 25,846 dengue cases have been recorded across the country in 2026.
Dr Samaraweera attributed the rise in cases to intermittent rainfall and favourable environmental conditions for mosquito breeding. (Newswire)
