A 54-year-old police officer has died after sustaining serious injuries in an assault involving a pole.
The assault took place on July 25 following a dispute that escalated into an argument.
The officer, who was attached to the Wellewa Police Station, had been receiving treatment in an intensive care unit following the assault and succumbed to his injuries on Thursday (13).
