Former Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu has called for a complete social media ban for national cricketers, arguing that online distractions are affecting players’ focus and professionalism.
Atapattu said cricketers representing the country should devote their full attention to training and performance, suggesting that staying away from social media — at least for some time — would help players regain focus and commitment.
“If players feel they need social media, they should retire from cricket. When you are representing your country, your focus should be only on your performance and preparation” he said.
Atapattu, who led Sri Lanka across all formats and is regarded as one of the country’s most disciplined players. (Newswire)
