Police inspect vehicles entering and exiting WP

A special quarantine operation was conducted yesterday to inspect vehicles that had entered and exited the Western Province.

 

The Police said 578 vehicles that had entered and exited the Province had been inspected during this period.

 

Nearly 1512 passengers had been inspected, while the Police had warned 275 people for violating quarantine laws.

 

Meanwhile, the Police had also inspected public transportation operating within the Western Province.

 

They said 611 buses, 17 trains, car 564, 1421 three-wheelers, and 775 other vehicles were inspected during the operation.

 

A total of 92 persons had been arrested for violating the health guidelines, while the Police had warned 4702 people who were found to have disregarded the laws.

 

The Police have conducted awareness programmes for those engaged in public transportation. 

 

They said the special quarantine operation will continue today as well.

 

The Police had also conducted a special quarantine operation to inspect mobile vendors operating in public places in the Western Province.

 

They said 120 mobile vendors were inspected yesterday to monitor if they were adhering to quarantine regulations. (NewsWire)
