Prime Minister declares open ‘Tomlin Park’ & ‘Sahas Uyana’ in Kandy

The ‘Tomlin Park’ and ‘Urban Car Park’ in Kandy were vested with the public on Sunday (23).

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the two parks which were built for the convenience of pilgrims visiting the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.

The World Bank has funded the two parks which have been created under the Strategic Urban Development Project by the Urban Development and Housing Ministry.

Tomlin Park, which consists of rooms, sanitary facilities, and 16 stalls for the benefit of pilgrims has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 374 million.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Rajapaksa unveiled a plaque declaring open the Sahas Uyana which is an urban parking area and public park.

The park which was built at a cost of Rs.531 million also has an open-air theatre, a handicraft mall, a dining area, and a children’s park. (NewsWire)
