A 46-year-old motorcyclist died after being struck by a train near the Kachcharuwelei railway crossing in the Palai Police Division on Sunday. The train was en route from Jaffna to Colombo.
Investigations revealed that the accident occurred while the railway signals were active, and the motorcyclist had attempted to cross the tracks despite the warning.
The victim was a resident of Palai. His body has been placed at the Kilinochchi Hospital mortuary. Palai Police are continuing inquiries. (Newswire)
