Sri Lanka Police have issued guidelines calling for discipline and safety during inter-school cricket big matches, which draw large crowds of students, parents and alumni.
Police urged participants and supporters to behave responsibly, avoid public disturbances, disputes with rival schools and the use of abusive or provocative content, including on social media. Unsafe travel practices, driving without valid licenses and driving under the influence of alcohol were also warned against.
Alcohol, cigarettes and narcotic substances are strictly prohibited within stadium premises and that legal action will be taken against violations.
Parents and guardians are advised to closely supervise students and ensure safe travel arrangements.
