One of the two persons killed in a shooting at Akuregoda in Thalangama has been identified as Attorney-at-Law Buddhika Mallawarachchi.
The shooting took place in the car park of a supermarket in the Akuregoda area. The victims, a man and a woman, were inside a vehicle at the time of the incident and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police suspect that a T56 firearm was used in the attack.
Attorney-at-Law Mallawarachchi had been primarily engaged in legal practice at the Colombo High Court, according to sources familiar with his professional background.
The identity of the female victim has not yet been officially released.
Thalangama Police have launched investigations to determine the motive behind the shooting and to identify the suspects involved. (Newswire)
