Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has lost his lawsuit against OpenAI and its leadership after a U.S. jury ruled against his claims in a California federal court. The case centered on allegations that OpenAI had strayed from its original nonprofit mission to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity.
Musk had accused Sam Altman, OpenAI executives and partners of shifting the company toward a profit-driven model and departing from its founding principles. He also challenged OpenAI’s commercial partnerships and corporate structure.
However, jurors in Oakland unanimously ruled that Musk filed the lawsuit too late under legal time limits, ending the case after less than two hours of deliberation.
Musk’s legal team has indicated it may appeal the decision. The ruling marks a major legal victory for OpenAI amid increasing scrutiny over the future direction and governance of artificial intelligence companies. (Newswire)
