Showers and strong winds are expected across several parts of Sri Lanka on Sunday, August 30, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers will occur at times in the Sabaragamuwa Province and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, while several spells of showers are expected in the Western and North Western provinces.
Showers or thundershowers are also possible at a few places in the Uva Province and the Ampara, Batticaloa and Hambantota districts after 2 p.m.
Mainly dry weather is expected elsewhere.
Strong winds of around 40-50 kmph are forecast at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, Northern, North Central and North Western provinces, as well as the Trincomalee, Monaragala, Hambantota and Matale districts.
The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers
