
A few showers are expected in Uva Province and in the districts of Batticaloa, Ampara, and Hambantota, the Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya after 2:00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm may occur at some locations, the Department said.
Mainly fair weather will prevail in other parts of the island.
A few showers are likely in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Trincomalee via Batticaloa. Showers or thundershowers are also likely at a few places in the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Matara via Galle during the evening or night.
Winds are expected to be easterly to northeasterly, with speeds of 20–30 km/h. Wind speeds may increase up to 40 km/h at times in sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil may be moderate at times. Other sea areas around the island are expected to remain slight.
Authorities have requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Newswire)
