Royal-Thomian One-Day Encounter Shifted to Day Match to Save Fuel

The 49th Mustangs Trophy, the Royal-Thomian One-Day Cricket Encounter scheduled for March 28, 2026, will now be played as a day match instead of a day-night fixture due to the ongoing fuel crisis.

In a statement, the Organising Committee said the decision was taken in the national interest at a time when the public is facing challenges due to the global fuel crisis.

The committee noted that shifting the match to a day game would significantly reduce fuel consumption compared to staging it as a day-night fixture.

The decision was taken following direction from the Heads of the two schools and has been formally endorsed by the 147th Royal-Thomian Joint Match Organising Committee.

According to the organisers, the Old Boy fraternities and sponsors have also expressed their full support for the move.

The committee said the decision reflects the spirit of responsibility and solidarity with the public while ensuring the continuation of the historic Royal-Thomian cricket tradition. (Newswire)
