Sri Lankan police will launch a nationwide crackdown on illegal vehicle modifications and unsafe driving practices from September 8, Deputy Transport Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena announced.
Under the new enforcement drive, officers will conduct checks across the island to ensure compliance with the Motor Traffic Act and related regulations. Offences include operating vehicles in unroadworthy condition, unauthorized color changes, installing multi-colored decorative lights, use of exhaust pipes that increase noise, and displaying images or advertisements on vehicles.
