One of the world’s premier beauty pageant, Miss World, will be held in Hyderabad, India from May 7th to May 31st. This is year’s competition will be the 72nd Miss World pageant. Miss Anudi Gunasekara will represent Sri Lanka in this year’s competition.

She was crowned as Siyatha Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World 2024. She was raised in the historic city of Anuradhapura and studied at Anuradhapura Central College. The 25-year-old is a graduate in International Relations from the University of Kelaniya. Anudi, studyed professional modeling under Brian Kerkoven in 2020, entered the industry as a part-time model while she was in university, before being crowned Miss Sri Lanka.

She is currently working as a model and a social activist. She is keen to bring honor to Sri Lanka through the crown she won, as well as the mission she must fulfill for society as a beauty queen and a woman. The best example of this is the “Saheli Foundation”, which she founded. “Saheli” is a non-profit organization established to eliminate period poverty among Sri Lankan women, especially girls.

Anudi founded the Saheli Foundation based on an idea that arose while studying at university. She was keen on focusing about the women’s rights.

“Saheli” ’s goal is to raise awareness about menstrual health, increase access to feminine hygiene products, donate hygiene products, and reduce menstrual poverty, which is 50% in the country.

Anudi’s ambition is to have open discussions about women’s menstrual health due to social and cultural taboos in Sri Lanka, and then to provide knowledge and facilities on the subject to women of all social classes in the country.

Anudi is currently preparing well for the Miss World competition, which begins on May 7th. We wish Anudi Gunasekara all the best for the Miss World Competition.
