The Postal and Telecommunications Officers’ Union in Sri Lanka withdrew from duties at the Central Mail Exchange last evening, announcing a two-day strike action.
The Union had announced that the strike would be launched at other postal offices from midnight on Wednesday.
As such, several post offices, including the Central Mail Exchange, remained closed today, severely inconveniencing the public.
A spokesman for the Union said the strike has been launched over the failure to carry out recruitment for several existing vacancies. (Newswire)
