From pioneering advanced reproductive practices to helping more than 450 families realise their dream of parenthood, Himashi Ruwanthika Hapangama’s career reflects the extraordinary impact of knowledge guided by purpose.
With over a decade of experience in reproductive medicine and genetics, she became Sri Lanka’s first embryologist to receive certification from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Her rare combination of expertise in embryology and medical genetics also enabled her to play a pivotal role in introducing and implementing Pre-implantation Genetic Testing in Sri Lanka.
Today, as Chief Embryologist at Asiri Hospitals Holdings PLC, she leads fertility and embryology services across five hospitals while performing some of the field’s most specialised procedures.
In recognition of her pioneering expertise, innovation and commitment to transforming lives, and upon graduating with an MBA in Hospital and Health Services Management from the University of Bedfordshire, Himashi Ruwanthika Hapangama was conferred the Distinguished Trailblazer Award 2026 at the Oxford College of Business Graduation Ceremony, held under the theme “Crowned in Knowledge.”
