In this context, the new Chinafort Gem Market Trading protocol was launched on 18th July 2026, has successfully completed its first month, with the consensually agreed 9AM to 3PM market operating hours implemented very successfully.
Therefore, following a series of discussions and collective decision, the new working hours of 9am–3pm was ceremoniously launched on the 18th of July 2026 under the patronage of Hon Chandhima Hettiarachchi MP., (Beruwala seat organizer and Chairman of development council) Mr. Mafasim Azahir Chairman of Beruwala Urban Council, Dr S.P Chaminda Chairman of National Gem and Jewellery Authority ,and their Directors , Mr. Rizwan Nayeem Chairman and EXCO team of the Ceylon Gem and Jewellery Traders Association, The Secretary and members of the Chinafort Mosque Society , Gem merchants , Area residents , land lords and tenants with over 1500 people . The Chinafort gem market has gained this enormous momentum, thanks to well-coordinated and successful promotional programs by the Ceylon Gem And Jewellery Traders Association to build its brand image worldwide as a trustworthy and reliable first source market for fine cut & polished gemstones.
Following a very successful first month operation of the new protocol, the Ceylon Gem And Jewellery Traders Association and the Urban Council of Beruwala continue to receive overwhelming positive feedback from all the participants in the market to continue their great work for further development of this market for the benefit of the entire gem community in Sri Lanka, whilst successfully maintaining coherence and co-existence among all market participants as well as the residents of the area.
