Liberty Lands & Developments (LLD) has acquired the remaining shares of Scope Cinemas, securing full ownership of the cinema chain as part of its broader group restructuring and long-term strategic direction.
The acquisition marks a significant step in LLD’s efforts to consolidate its entertainment portfolio and strengthen its commitment to delivering world-class cinema experiences, while enhancing operational alignment. With Scope Cinemas now fully under its ownership, the group is positioned to drive greater cohesion across its businesses while reinforcing its core brand promise of creating memorable experiences that “put a smile on everyone’s face.”
As part of this transition, Mr. Thushan Rangana Meenanage will step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Scope Cinemas, as well as from his roles across other affiliate companies, effective 31st March. His departure reflects a leadership transition aligned with the group’s evolving strategic priorities.
Mr. Naveed Cader has been appointed Interim CEO of Scope Cinemas with immediate effect, while continuing in his capacity as Executive Chairman. His appointment ensures continuity in leadership while supporting the company’s next phase of growth and transformation.
LLD operates a diversified portfolio spanning entertainment, hospitality, real estate, and food and beverage. Its key subsidiaries include Scope Cinemas and Food Studio, while the group also holds strategic stakes in Alhambra Hotels and Cine Digital.
