Salam Ramadan is a flagship cultural initiative of the Western Provincial Council, implemented in collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council, first launched in 2025 with the objective of promoting awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Sri Lanka’s diverse cultures during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Following the overwhelming success of its inaugural edition which attracted over 15,000 visitors across three days and illuminated key religious and commercial landmarks across Colombo the initiative returns in 2026 as an expanded, citywide cultural celebration. In recognition of its impact, the Western Provincial Council and the Colombo Municipal Council have reaffirmed their partnership to continue and strengthen Salam Ramadan for a second consecutive year.

Salam Ramadan 2026, Sri Lanka’s foremost Muslim Food and Cultural festival, will be held at Green Path (Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha) on 27th and 28th February, and 1st March 2026, from 5.00 p.m. to midnight. The three-day event coincides with the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan and serves as a platform to promote inclusivity, interfaith harmony, and social cohesion in the heart of Colombo.

The festival will showcase the rich traditions of Sri Lanka’s Muslim communities, including the Moors, Malays, Memons, and Bohras, highlighting their culinary heritage, traditional attire, handicrafts, and cultural expressions. Visitors can expect a vibrant marketplace featuring food and retail stalls offering a wide array of cuisines, beverages, and cultural products.

The venue will be transformed into a festive boulevard inspired by Middle Eastern Ramadan streets, complete with illuminated décor, traditional motifs, and a lively atmosphere. A central performance stage will host song, dance, drama, baith recitals, and cultural performances by schools and community groups, many of whom will compete for special awards.

Additional attractions include educational and cultural booths displaying information on Muslim heritage, free spiritual literature, henna art, Arabic calligraphy, and interactive cultural experiences, offering visitors a comprehensive and memorable celebration in a single venue.

The Salam Ramadan 2026 Committee warmly invites people of all faiths and communities to experience this joyous celebration of culture, unity, and the spirit of Ramadan an event that continues to strengthen Colombo’s identity as a city of diversity and shared values.
