Developed by Sri Lankan technology company X4 Digital Labs, Uparima introduces a commission free ride hailing model with per ride charges starting from just LKR 10, aiming to offer drivers some of the lowest platform charges and passengers some of the most affordable fares in Sri Lanka.

A Sri Lankan technology company is bringing a different approach to the country’s ride hailing market, focusing on helping drivers retain more of their earnings while making transportation more affordable for passengers.
Uparima, developed by X4 Digital Labs (Private) Limited, is now live in Sri Lanka with a commission free pricing model that replaces percentage based ride commissions with fixed platform fees.
Drivers can choose between paying per completed ride or subscribing for LKR 1,500 per vehicle per month for unlimited rides. Under the per-ride option, charges start from just LKR 10, with motorbikes and three-wheelers charged LKR 10, cars LKR 30 and vans LKR 50 per ride.
The model gives drivers greater control over their platform expenses without having to surrender a percentage of every fare.
Behind Uparima is X4 Digital Labs, a growing Sri Lankan technology company working with international clients across multiple markets. The company has developed its business by delivering technology solutions to clients in countries including the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
A Commission-Free Model Designed for Sri Lankan Drivers
For many Sri Lankan drivers, ride-hailing has become an important source of income. However, fuel, maintenance, repairs and other vehicle-related expenses already place considerable pressure on their earnings. Percentage-based platform commissions can further reduce the amount drivers take home.
Uparima was developed with this challenge in mind. Its pricing model aims to provide some of the lowest platform charges available to Sri Lankan drivers through two straightforward options (starts from):
- Motorbikes: LKR 10 per completed ride
- Three-wheelers: LKR 10 per completed ride
- Cars: LKR 30 per completed ride
- Vans: LKR 50 per completed ride
- Monthly subscription: LKR 1,500 per vehicle for unlimited rides.
Drivers can choose the option that best suits their vehicle and monthly ride volume. By removing percentage based commissions and keeping platform fees predictable, Uparima aims to help drivers retain more of their earnings.
Affordable Fares for Passengers
Uparima’s pricing model is designed to benefit passengers as well as drivers. By avoiding percentage based commissions, the company aims to create opportunities for more competitive and affordable passenger fares.
The company believes that ride hailing should create value for everyone involved. Drivers should have a fair opportunity to earn from their work, while passengers should have access to some of the most affordable ride hailing fares in the market.
Uparima aims to build a sustainable business while keeping the financial interests of drivers and the affordability of passengers at the centre of its approach.
More Than Ride Hailing: One Platform for Everyday Needs
Uparima is designed as an integrated digital platform that brings together transportation, classified advertisements and employment services.
Its classifieds feature allows users to list items for sale and discover products offered by others, providing a convenient way for buyers and sellers to connect.
The platform also includes a jobs service to help job seekers discover employment opportunities and connect with businesses.
Through Hire.Uparima.lk, companies can create profiles, publish vacancies and manage recruitment through a dedicated employer portal. Businesses can review and filter applications, provide access to additional team members and communicate with applicants through email.
By bringing these services together, Uparima aims to make everyday digital activities more accessible to individuals, drivers, buyers, sellers, job seekers and businesses across Sri Lanka.
Bringing International Technology Experience to the Sri Lankan Market
For X4 Digital Labs, Uparima reflects a broader ambition to develop technology products that address practical needs in Sri Lanka while continuing to serve international clients.
The company is applying its technology and product development experience to local opportunities, with the aim of building a sustainable digital platform that offers practical value to everyday users.
