The A Café, a new dining destination blending Sri Lankan and American-inspired cuisine, is set to open this Sunday on Alfred House Avenue in Colombo, offering what its founders describe as a cultural and culinary meeting point.
The café, also known as The Avenue Café, features indoor dining spaces, private rooms and an eco-friendly backyard dining area designed to provide a relaxed yet refined experience for guests.
The A Café will serve American fusion cuisine infused with Sri Lankan flavours, with a menu that reimagines local staples such as kiri bath and coconut sambal alongside international techniques and ingredients. The café will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., catering to breakfast, brunch, lunch and late-night diners.
Coffee and tea are a central focus, with specialty coffee brews and a curated selection of 16 tea varieties in partnership with Basilur Tea, including a custom-designed tea cart for tea parties and special events.
Operated under The Avenue brand, the café will also offer BYOB options, special event menus and group-friendly backyard dining options, positioning it as both a casual café and a social gathering space.
The founders said the concept was inspired by a collaboration between an American-inspired chef and a Sri Lankan entrepreneur, aiming to introduce “real food that tells a story” through cross-cultural flavours and techniques.
