Union Assurance, Sri Lanka’s longest-standing private Life Insurer, congratulates all participants following the successful conclusion of Colombo Marathon 2026, held in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka. Recognised by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the marathon earned inclusion in the World Athletics Global Calendar, a first for an event of its kind in Sri Lanka, strengthening its international credibility and reinforcing its ambition of establishing Colombo as a premier international marathon destination. Presenting the event, Union Assurance was proud to support a landmark initiative that firmly placed Sri Lanka on the global running stage.
Held under the theme “Steps for Peace and Humanity,” Colombo Marathon 2026 took place on September 13 and marked a prestigious milestone in the evolution of road racing in Sri Lanka. The event was the first of its kind in the country to be officially timed by international race officials, enhancing its alignment with globally recognised race standards. Attracting more than 5,000 local and international participants, the marathon catered to runners of all ages and fitness levels through five race categories: the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km Fun Run and Mini Run for children.
