The traditional computer laboratory is taking on a new identity as Vidyartha College Kandy embraces the latest in artificial intelligence and digital learning through a new technology upgrade provided by Techzone Kandy and Lenovo.
The newly launched computer laboratory features 10 Lenovo All-in-One PCs, a 75-inch TECHNO VIEW AI Interactive Panel with AI Camera, and a complete modern laboratory setup designed to provide students with greater access to emerging technologies.
The initiative goes beyond simply replacing or upgrading computers. It aims to create an environment where students can explore artificial intelligence, digital creativity, research, experimentation and modern learning tools as technology continues to reshape education and the workplace.
Artificial Intelligence is increasingly influencing the way people work, communicate, create and learn. Against this backdrop, modern classrooms are evolving from conventional computer-based learning spaces into environments that encourage students to engage with technology in more practical and innovative ways.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Mohamed Ismail Famy, Chairman of The Technocity (Pvt) Ltd, highlighted the importance of providing young people with opportunities to understand and experience emerging technologies.
“We are now living in the era of Artificial Intelligence, where technology is changing the way we learn, work and build our future. Our responsibility goes beyond simply providing technology. We must also help create opportunities for the next generation to experience and learn with it,” he said.

The launch was attended by Dr. Harsha Suranga Fernandok, Governor of the Central Province, along with Mr. Minhaj Farook, Director, Laptop.lk; Mr. Hemal Chandraratne, Manager, Techzone Kandy; Mr. Naveen Kejriwal and Mr. Shekhar Karmakar of Lenovo.
Also present were D. M. K. Dasanayaka, Additional Provincial Director of Education (Development); A. K. P. S. Kodithuwakku, Deputy Director of Education (Development, ICT), Provincial Department of Education, Central Province; and Pramasinghe G. H. M. A., Kandy Chief Secretary, Provincial Council.
The technology upgrade marks another step towards introducing students to the tools and skills that are becoming increasingly important in a digitally driven world.
With access to AI-enabled technology, interactive learning facilities and modern computing equipment, students at Vidyartha College Kandy now have an opportunity to explore technology not simply as a subject, but as a platform for learning, creativity and innovation.
