The government has issued a fresh circular confirming pension entitlement for public servants recruited to the public service after Jan. 1, 2016.
Public administration circular number 21/2017(1) issued on Feb 18, 2026 said that Cabinet approval had been received to amend the provisions related to pensions for state employees recruited on or after 01.01. 2016.
Accordingly, the circular has been issued instructing all appointment letters issued on or after Jan 1. 2016 to be amended accordingly.
Furthermore the circular issued by S. ALokabandara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration instructs future appointment letters issued to state employees must also note the amendment, according to the government’s policy. (Newswire)
