A person identified as “Army Upul”, reportedly an associate of slain underworld figure “Ganemulla Sanjeewa”, was shot dead in front of his residence in Batuwatte, Ragama, police said.
According to police, two assailants arrived in a three-wheeler and opened fire on the victim near Mihindu Mawatha before fleeing the scene. The shooting is suspected to be linked to ongoing underworld rivalries.
“Ganemulla Sanjeewa”, believed to be a close associate of “Army Upul”, was previously shot dead near the Hulftsdorp Court Complex in Colombo.
Investigations are ongoing.
