The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory for eight districts, warning that the heat index is likely to reach the “Caution” level in some areas during the daytime.
The advisory covers the districts of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ampara, Monaragala and Hambantota.
According to the Department, the heat index, which reflects the temperature felt by the human body, is expected to remain at levels that require caution in parts of these districts during the day.
Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun where possible and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. (Newswire)
