Northern Investment Summit held in Jaffna

The Northern Investment Summit 2026 (NIS26) commenced on Wednesday (21 Jan), at the Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre in Jaffna under the patronage of Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunneththi. 

According to a Ministry of Industries statement, scheduled to be held over two days, 21 and 22 January, the summit aims to inform and promote investment opportunities in the Northern Province to both local and foreign investors, enhance the province’s contribution to the national economy, create employment opportunities, and encourage youth and women entrepreneurs.

The summit is organized by The Management Club, with sponsorship from the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, the Consulate General of India in Jaffna, the Northern Provincial Council, the Board of Investment, the Export Development Board, the Tourism Promotion Bureau, and several other state and private organizations.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Minister of Fisheries Ramalingam Chandrasekeram, Secretary to the Prime Minister G. A. Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Harshana Suriyapperuma, Consul General of India in Jaffna Shri Sai Murali, Governor of the Northern Province Nagalingam Vedanayagam, along with a large number of government officials, diplomats, and investors.
