
Parliamentary leader of the ruling United Russia party in the State Duma, Vladimir Vasilyev, met with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development and Leader of the House of Parliament, Bimal Rathnayake.
The meeting, which took place at the State Duma, focused on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation between Russian and Sri Lankan leaders.
Both sides discussed enhancing collaboration based on longstanding historical ties and agreed to revive the parliamentary friendship group.
Vasilyev noted that strong trade relations have existed between Russia and Sri Lanka for many years and said more than 800 Sri Lankan students are currently studying at Russian universities.
He also highlighted the potential to utilise Russia’s capabilities to support bilateral needs despite existing global challenges. (NewsWire)
