
Mainly dry weather will prevail over most parts of Sri Lanka today, while showers are expected in a few areas in the evening, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in the Galle, Matara, Kalutara and Nuwara-Eliya districts during the evening or night.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and Uva provinces and in the Kurunegala, Vavuniya, Galle and Matara districts in the morning.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalutara to Hambantota via Galle during the evening or night. Mainly fair weather will prevail over the other sea areas around the island.
Winds will be north-easterly or variable in direction. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
