South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor is recalling approximately 145,235 electric and hybrid vehicles in the United States due to a potential loss of drive power, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall affects select models, including the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 electric vehicles, as well as the Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70, and Genesis G80 electrified variants from the 2022-2025 model years.
The NHTSA highlighted that the integrated charging control units in these vehicles may sustain damage, potentially halting the charging of the 12-volt battery and leading to a loss of drive power.
Hyundai has announced that dealers will inspect, replace, and update the software and fuse of the affected components at no cost to the vehicle owners.
