Former Sri Lanka cricketer Avishka Gunawardena has resigned from his role at Sri Lanka Cricket’s High Performance Centre, following a recent change in his coaching assignment.
Gunawardena, who had been serving as the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team coach, was recently reassigned by Sri Lanka Cricket to take over as the Sri Lanka Under-19 team coach.
Gunawardena had been credited with successfully handling the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team in recent assignments, with several emerging players progressing under his guidance.
However, following the decision to move him to the Under-19 setup, he has stepped down from his position at the High Performance Centre.
Sri Lanka Cricket is yet to officially announce a replacement or comment on the resignation. (Newswire)
