The Department of Meteorology has warned of heat levels affecting the human body in several areas on Tuesday (31), including parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Eastern, North-Western, Northern and North-Central provinces, as well as the Monaragala District.

The advisory, issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 3.30 p.m. on Monday (30), said these areas may experience elevated heat conditions.

The public has been advised to stay hydrated, take breaks in shaded areas when working outdoors and limit strenuous activities.

The advisory also calls for special attention to the elderly and those with illnesses, and warns against leaving children unattended inside vehicles.

People are further advised to wear light-coloured, loose clothing to minimise heat exposure. (NewsWire)
