Two multi-day fishing vessels transporting more than 270 kilograms of narcotics were seized during a special operation carried out in deep sea areas off Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police Narcotics Bureau, based on intelligence information received by the Police Narcotics Bureau.
Officials said inspections of the vessels led to the discovery of approximately 270 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice,” and heroin. The drugs had been carefully concealed inside the boats.
The seized vessels were identified as multi-day fishing trawlers, authorities said. (NewsWire)
