A woman was killed and two others injured in a road accident on the Southern Expressway on Saturday evening, police said.
The accident occurred when a car travelling from Colombo towards Mattala veered off the road, hit the left-side safety barrier and overturned, according to police.
The deceased was identified as a 51-year-old woman from Wattala.
Two men aged 30 and 36 were injured in the incident and admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle. Hospital sources said one of the injured is in critical condition.
Police suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the crash. (Newswire)
