United States President Donald Trump said he was unaware of preliminary findings from a U.S. military investigation that reportedly concluded an American missile strike mistakenly hit an elementary school in Iran, killing around 175 people.
According to a report by The New York Times, the preliminary investigation found that a U.S. Tomahawk missile fired on February 28 struck the school in the southern Iranian city of Minab after it was misidentified as a military target.
The report said the error may have been caused by outdated or incorrect targeting intelligence.
Responding to questions from reporters, Trump said he had not been briefed on the reported findings.
U.S. authorities have not officially confirmed the conclusions of the investigation, which remains ongoing. (Newswire)
