The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for heavy rain affecting Eastern and Uva provinces, along with the districts of Polonnaruwa, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Hambantota.
The advisory issued at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and is valid until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters is likely at some locations within the affected areas, the Met Department said.
The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize potential damage from heavy rain, strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers. (Newswire)
