A bomb threat sent via email triggered a security search at the North Western Provincial Council complex early Tuesday (3).
The email, written in Tamil and received around 3:30 a.m., claimed that an explosive device would be detonated inside the premises.
The message alleged that a cyanide-filled bomb had been planted and instructed officials and civilians at the chief secretary’s office to evacuate by 11 a.m.
Police, along with Special Task Force personnel and sniffer dogs, conducted a search of the complex.
Government officials temporarily vacated their offices and assisted security personnel during the inspection. Police said investigations are ongoing to trace the individual responsible for sending the email. (NewsWire)
