Sri Lanka women clinch first ODI series win in WI in 23 years

Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket team clinched a historic ODI series victory in the Caribbean, defeating the West Indies Women by 14 runs in the second ODI on Sunday (22) to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Led by Chamari Athapaththu, Sri Lanka posted 208/7 (47.1 overs), with Vishmi Gunaratne scoring 58. The hosts were bowled out for 194 in 48 overs, as Inoka Ranaweera and Sugandika Kumari claimed three wickets each.

In the first ODI played on Friday (20), Sri Lanka defeated the West Indies by 10 runs. Hasini Perera and Harshitha Samarawickrama struck half-centuries to help Sri Lanka post 240, before Inoka Ranaweera picked up 4 for 44 to restrict the opposition to 230.
