Prabath Madushanka, also known as “Midigama Chooti”, who was wanted by Sri Lankan authorities, was brought back to the country from Oman early this morning, Police said.
According to Police, the suspect was arrested in Oman following international coordination and was deported to Sri Lanka, where he was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) upon arrival.
Midigama Chootie had been wanted in connection with several criminal investigations and had reportedly fled the country to evade arrest.
Police said the suspect is currently being detained under CID custody and further investigations are underway.
Authorities are expected to produce the suspect before court following ongoing inquiries. (Newswire)
