The Ministry of Transport and Highways says four entry lanes at the Seeduwa interchange of the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway were opened today (23 Dec) and will operate continuously to provide an efficient service for expressway users.
These include one Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) lane and three ticket lanes, kept open 24 hours a day to prevent delays for the thousands of vehicles that enter the expressway daily.
Issuing a statement, the ministry said the initiative was introduced by the Road Development Authority (RDA).
Since some drivers, unaware of the dedicated ETC lane, had previously caused delays by driving through it, the lane has now been marked in blue and a speed limit of 15 km/h has been imposed within that section to avoid such issues, the ministry added. (Newswire)
