Police in Sri Lanka have arrested a man who was wanted on 88 outstanding warrants related to multiple cases of financial fraud, authorities announced.
The suspect, identified as a 56-year-old resident of Wadduwa, had been evading police for an extended period.
He was apprehended by officers from the Athurugiriya Police Station on the evening of December 11, during a raid in the Gajaba Mawatha area of Athurugiriya, acting on a confidential tip-off.
The man is accused of defrauding individuals by taking money from them under the false pretense of securing foreign job opportunities.
The 88 warrants against him were issued by Magistrate’s Courts in Moratuwa, Galle, Warakapola, and Panadura in connection with these widespread money fraud cases.
The Athurugiriya Police are conducting further investigations into the matter. (Newswire)
