A 38-year-old man was killed following an assault involving a sharp weapon in the Marawila police area on Monday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Dunukannawa area during the afternoon of December 22, when the victim was allegedly attacked after a personal dispute with a neighbouring resident escalated, according to preliminary investigations.
Police said the man sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Marawila Hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.
The deceased was a resident of Dunukannawa.
A 43-year-old suspect, believed to be the victim’s neighbour, has been arrested in connection with the killing. The body has been placed at the Marawila Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
