Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa has requested Sri Lankan doctors who left for the United Kingdom to consider returning to Sri Lanka, highlighting the shortage of specialist doctors in the country.

Minister Jayatissa revealed in a statement on social media that he had made the request during his recent official visit to the United Kingdom.

The Health Minister said he attended a meeting organized by the Sri Lankan High Commission with Sri Lankan doctors living in the UK, during which he made the request.

“At this discussion, I made a special request to our specialist doctors who have left the country for various reasons, to consider returning to Sri Lanka. There is currently a shortage of specialist doctors in our health service,” he said.
