The government has appointed four Acting Ministers following the departure of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to the United States.
President Dissanayake left for the USA last evening, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The temporary appointments will remain in effect until the President’s return from the United States.
The four Acting Ministers appointed to key ministries are as follows;
- Anil Jayantha Fernando –
Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development as Acting Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
- Eranga Weeraratne-
Deputy Minister of Digital Economy as Acting Minister of Digital Economy.
- Aruna Jayasekara-
Deputy Minister of Defence as Acting Minister of Defence.
- Arun Hemachandra-
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism. (Newswire)
