Nanu Oya–Great Western railway repairs to be completed by December

Restoration work on the railway line between Nanu Oya and Great Western, which was severely damaged during Cyclone Ditwah, is scheduled to be completed by December and opened for public use.

According to the Nuwara Eliya District Media Unit, Chairman of the Nuwara Eliya District Coordinating Committee, MP Manjula Suraweera Arachchi, together with a group of officials, inspected the ongoing construction activities along the affected stretch.

Work on the line is progressing rapidly, and MP Suraweera Arachchi noted that officers of the Railway Department who are dedicating themselves to the project deserve public appreciation for their efforts.

The completion of the project will restore a key transport link in the hill country, which was disrupted by the cyclone’s impact. (Newswire)
