The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber Advisory for rough seas for the sea areas extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Colombo, valid until 1:00 AM on October 14.
According to the bulletin issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 4:00 PM today (13), thundershowers are expected in the sea areas off the coast stretching from Mannar to Hambantota via Colombo. During thundershowers, temporarily strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 60 to 70 km/h along with very rough seas are anticipated.
Naval and fishing communities engaged in activities within these sea areas have been strongly advised to remain vigilant. (Newswire)
